Oslo

Just like we imagined, Oslo was very clean, very cold, and very blonde…at least by our standards.

Norwegian folk life is equally charming as it is bizarre. The grass-topped houses, the off-tempo music and unusual violin-like instruments, the craftsmanship of the vikings—they all seem like fairytales. Details romanticized by some crazy fiction writer. Coming face to face with Norwegian history was very grounding. But mostly, I’m still not sure if I’m more terrified or enthralled by the violence and conquests of the vikings.

Should I feel guilty for thinking vikings are really cool and incredibly badass?

I don’t know the history of the Vigeland Sculpture Park, or any information about Vigeland himself. I wanted to keep all of that as a secret from myself so I could make up my own narrative about the eerie baby-kicking, love-making, and tangled-up sculptures.

These two cuties are the only reason I'd travel somewhere so cold.
