Mendoza
Uco Valley is just an hour drive out of Mendoza, Argentina. A dreamland of vineyards tucked in the foothills of the Andes, Uco Valley is actually heaven on earth. Dry desert air, snowcapped mountains, amazing Malbec, and our new favorite escape—Finca Ogawa. Finca Ogawa is a boutique winery, organic farm, microbrewery, and honey farm, run by an expat and his Mendocino wife. They live in the home is wife was born, and have converted the remaining structures into farmstays.
Our host introduced us to the craziest man I've ever me in my life. But crazy is a complete and total compliment. Nino is a gaucho. His passion in life is riding horses, grilling meat, and drinking wine. In his spare time, he finds insane ways to cross the Andes into Chile. Including, but not limited to walking across, cross-country skiing across, on horseback, and rollerblading across.
He took us on horseback up the Andes to watch the sunset and drink wine. We were followed by two, very adventourus dogs.
We went back to his house for a feast of never ending grilled meat, wine, cuban cigars, and Argentinian rock.
And of course we spent the day drinking delicious Malbec with our host.
