Vienna

It’s as if I died and went to white wine heaven. With it’s rolling green vineyards and open air wineries, Vienna is like Berlin’s more refined cousin.

The wine region hugs the edges of the city limits. The wineries are connected by communally maintained private paths. Well manicured and winding from one vineyard to the next, until you reach the top. With their perfect vantage point of the city below and the complete quietness of the surrounding nature. Just turn your chair around, and you’re suddenly miles and miles from the city.

And we gladly turn our chairs around. By this point in the trip, we’re starting to realize we’re so over cities. We love New York because it’s our home, but do we actually love hectic, dirty, loud, vibrant city life like we thought?

Their party scene is weird and hidden. On Saturday night, the street was quiet and empty—without a tourist in sight. Based on our experience, the ‘in’ thing is obscure samba and reggae music from the 80s. The bars are hot and the dance floors are small. The crowd does more of a sway then a dance. Their attention isn’t turned toward each other. They’re not swaying together. Their fully focused on the DJ.
