Santorini
The magic of Oia is hard to put into words. While every city has its own special vibe, there’s something so beautiful and different about Oia’s magic.
Oia is a neighborhood of a few small coves and cliffs along the north west edge of Santorini, Greece. Beneath Oia lays in a small cove lies Ammoudi Bay. The town is carved out of deep rich red rock. Small unpaved paths line the shore, narrow enough to limit one to two tourists to pass from restaurant to restaurant at a time. This small port lies 300 steps beneath Oia, giving it the most amazing view of the town above (and an inaccessibility from an overload of tourists.)
We caught a small motor boat from a collapsing cement pier to the only taverna in the fishing village of Ormos Armeni. The restaurant, only accessible by boat or long h must seat less than 40 people along a modest outpost, perched over a rocky black beach, with the perfect view of a Santorini sunset. As the night gets later, huge rocks dissolve into the darkening sky. Our neck’s were strained by the end of the short boat trip back. Our eyes were glued to the view, staring at the pristine white villages that cap the red mountain tops, with their cozy warm lights and their inexplainable magic.
